Improving the efficiency of magnetic coupling energy transfer by etching fractal patterns in the shielding

Qing-feng LI,Shao-bo CHEN,Wei-ming WANG,Hong-wei HAO,Lu-ming LI

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2016, Volume 17, Issue 1,   Pages 74-82 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500114

Abstract:

Thin metal sheets are often located in the coupling paths of magnetic coupling energy transfer (MCETEddy currents in the metals reduce the energy transfer efficiency and can even present safety risks.Fractal pattern slots in multilayer high conductivity metals (e.g., Cu) reduce the induced magnetic fieldFurthermore, transfer power, transfer efficiency, receiving efficiency, and eddy current losses all increaseThese results can benefit MCET by efficient energy transfer and safe use in metal shielded equipment.

Frontiers in Energy 2011, Volume 5, Issue 2,   Pages 174-180 doi: 10.1007/s11708-011-0140-3

Abstract: In this paper, the feasibility of using metal foams to enhance the heat transfer capability of phasechange materials (PCMs) in low- and high-temperature thermal energy storage systems was assessed.Heat transfer characteristics of these PCMs embedded with open-cell metal foams were studied. The heat transfer performances of these composites were tested and compared with metal foams. This implies that porous materials do not always enhance heat transfer in every regime.
